Special Events

Miss Caprock
This pageant reveals the most talented coed at South Plains College. Contestants are nominated by campus clubs and organizations and are judged on personal presentation, poise and current events. This years pageant will be held on November 16, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. in Tom T. Hall.
Haleigh Ballow from Levelland, Texas is the current Miss Caprock. Haleigh represented On Campus Ministry.
SPC Homecoming and Dance
SPC strives to put together a fun day for current students and alumni, complete with kings, queens, basketball games and a dance. The 2008 Homecoming will be February 14, 2008 in the Texan Dome. Maurio Gutierrez and Crystal Gutierrez are the reigning King and Queen. They represented the Smallwood Apartments.
Awards Assembly
During each year outstanding students are recognized bythe faculty, administration and student body. Recognition is given for accomplishments in academics, leadership, school spirit and all-around participation and involvement in student life at South Plains College. Students named to special awards are recognized at the annual Awards Assembly held at the conclusion of th espring semester. These students, along with their parents, family, friends and faculty are invited to the honors ceremony and reception in the Texan Dome.
The Awards Assembly will be held May 1, 2008.
Mr. & Miss SPC
Each spring the student body at South Plains College elects a sophomore male and femal student as the most popular students on campus. Nominations for the award are made by campus clubs and organizations and winners are selected in a campus-wide election. Nominees must have at least a 2.0 GPA and not be currently on scholastic or disciplinary probation. Vanessa Ruiz and Dawson Munoz represented the Student Government Association in last years election.
President Student of the Year
This is the highest recognition a student can receive at South Plains College. This award honors an outstanding student, who has been most successful academically, socially and has contributed most to the campus environment. Selection is made by a committee composed of representatives from the Student Affairs Division, Academic Affairs and the faculty. Final approval is made by the President of South Plains College. Vanessa Ruiz of Levelland is the recipient of the 2007 President Student of the Year Award.
