Basic Fire Academy

 

 

Students interested in applying for the 2008-2009 Basic Fire Academy Program must take ACCUPLACER as the entrance exam.  Students should submit an academy application packet prior to taking the ACCUPLACER exam. Academy application packets may be picked up from Matt Hixson, Coordinator of the Fire Technology Program, at the Byron Martin Advanced Technology Center (3201 Ave Q, Office 151, Lubbock, TX). Academy application packets will be available beginning 9:00 a.m. on Monday, May 12, 2008.

The deadline to apply for the Basic Fire Academy Program is 4:00 p.m. on Friday, June 6, 2008

Pre-registration is required for ACCUPLACER.  Students must register by 1:00 p.m. the day prior to testing To pre-register for a test date at Reese, students may register in person at the Reese Center in Building 8, Room 823, or by faxing or mailing in the ACCUPLACER registration form. To pre-register for a test date at the ATC, students may register in person at the ATC in  Room 158, or by faxing or mailing in the ACCUPLACER registration form. In order to register for an exam date, students must provide a picture ID (i.e. driver’s license) and a Social Security ID (i.e. Social Security card). Payment for the exam is required at the time of pre-registration. The test fee is $30.00 for all three sections. The fee for retesting on one or two sections is $20.00

ACCUPLACER scores for the Basic Fire Academy Program are good for one year prior to the application date. Students who have taken ACCUPLACER on or after May 12, 2007 may submit those scores if they so desire.  The deadline to take ACCUPLACER at SPC for the 2008 application period is 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 4, 2008.
