BMG. Dean of Health Occupations
SUMMARY
Responsible for instructional administrative leadership for the division of health occupation programs. Develop, implement, and evaluate health programs; coordinate the integration of such programs and community outreach; coordinate the integration of such programs and services with faculty, staff, students and other campus constituencies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Develop the operational budget for the division with faculty and staff input; manage the fiscal allocations in accordance with the division’s approved budget.
2. Develop, implement, manage and evaluate multiple health Occupations programs; provide program advice to faculty, staff and students. Maintain current course outlines and syllabi for all courses. Provide input regarding the design and use of instructional laboratory space and equipment. Participate in the catalog revision process by updating information.
3. Develop and recommend short and long range operational and strategic academic plans and related polices/procedures; implement approved programs; coordinate, plan and recommend curricular program developments, innovations, modifications and revisions; collect data and maintain records on the division facilities, personnel, budget, equipment and student enrollment trends, grade analysis, program development and institutional/program effectiveness standards. Provide leadership in developing goals and objectives for the division, which support the college’s long term strategic plan.
4. Assure and maintain accreditation standards and appropriate governmental regulations; ensure that required reports are submitted on time. Maintain specialized accreditation documents; assist program faculty and staff with self-studies; participate in scheduled site visits; assure that recommendations from the site visits are implemented.
5. Establish and maintain relationships with business, local community and educational institutions; participate in professional and community activities at local, state and national levels. Ensure that program advisory committees and/or taskforces meet regularly and that minutes are recorded. Conduct periodic surveys/meetings to assess changes in workforce demand for existing programs; assess needs for new programs in related disciplines. Conduct employment/termination activities; provide personnel management direction and guidance to faculty/staff including assignment, performance appraisal, coaching, personal and profession development; facilitate resolution of students, faculty or staff conflicts. Recommend faculty/staff for assignments to college-wide committees and action teams. Ensure that division’s faculty and staff perform their duties and responsibilities in accordance with college polices and procedures. Recommend and implements personnel-related actions within the specific areas of responsibilities.
6. Serve as a permanent member of the Administrative Council, Academic Council, Academic Appeals, Admissions, Instructional Deans Council and other committees as appropriate.
7. Perform other duties as assigned.
