Education

Teacher Education

South Plains College offers course work for the first two
years of study in preparation for teaching as a career. Students
may opt to pursue the general academic transfer courses that
are the minimum requirements for any person seeking teacher
certification. SPC also offers an Associate of Arts in Teaching
degree that is designed to provide a seamless transfer to a university
for programs in early childhood education and fourth
through eighth grade education.

General Education Option
This curriculum provides the general requirements for transfer
to a teacher education program at a university. However,
individual universities may include additional requirements.
Please consult an advisor to assist in making the proper choices
for course work in preparation for a teaching degree. SPC
offers an Associate of Arts degree with an emphasis on these
general education requirements. The advisor for this degree is
Dr. Mike Felker, chairperson of the English Department.
